Gov. Walz said he will call a special session “when the work’s done — whenever that is, whenever we’re ready.”

Halls of the second floor outside the House and Senate Chambers of the Capitol were mostly empty of lobbyists and protesters on the last day of the 2025 legislative session.

Speaker Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, gavels a recess to the call of the chair afterthe members passed a resolution early on the last day of the legislative session. The House Chamber stood mostly empty as members milled around as negotiations continued on the budget.
