Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) projects a $1.3 billion improvement over last year’s budget projection and a $3.7 billion surplus over the next 16 months. Instead of the state facing a $3 billion short fall in the middle of 2029 MMB is forecasting a $377 million surplus. Bill Baker, one of Minnesota's players on the 1980 Gold Medal Olympic Men’s Hockey Team, stops in front of the Capitol to greet well wishers and sign autographs during a parade of Minnesota players in St. Paul.
