A lone person (did not want to be identified) stands outside the House Chamber with a message for GOP Speaker Lisa Demuth. Speaker Demuth did not report or allow a vote on the bill passed by the Senate that would ban assault weapons and large capacity magazines as well as other provisions.

The conference committee report went back and forth between chambers after amendments were approved and had to be approved again by the two bodies until the final version was passed in the last minutes that the bill could be passed on the final day of the 2026 session.
