March 7 - Gov. Walz Signs Drivers Licenses For All Bill
Gov. Tim Walz signs into law legislation allowing Minnesotans to obtain a driver’s license or ID card regardless of their immigration status.
In 2003 legislation ended undocumented immigrants from getting a driver’s license in Minnesota. For the next 20 years undocumented immigrants faced the risk of driving without a license. Beginning in August nearly 81,000 eligible residents will be able to apply for a drivers licenses or ID card.
