Special Session 2

Minority Leader Kurt Daudt, left, and Rep. Tim O’Driscoll, right, enter the House Chamber for the second special session of 2020. Gov. Tim Walz called the special session to have the peacetime emergency extended for another thirty days. During this special session the legislature will attempt to reach agreements on several issues that were shelved during the regular session and new issues that were brought about by the death of George Floyd. Bonding, police accountability, controlling the coronavirus and how to safely open schools are some of the issues that may be taken up during this special session. Gov. Walz and the leadership in both bodies have agreed to keep talking to attempt to reach agreements on these issues and have tentatively set July 20 for votes on these measures.
